Today's Teaser...

...for our Spring 2012 Re-Opening Event on Saturday, April 14th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.!

Award-winning local scrimshander, John DeWald, will be demonstrating his craftsmanship, and displaying several of his beautiful pieces, during our re-opening event.

Scrimshaw is the art of engraving pictures and lettering on tusks, bones, and teeth (originally, of sperm whales, walruses, etc.), with the engraving highlighted using various pigments and dyes. John's artform is one of elaborate and fine detail-work -- carved mainly on bone, horn, and wood -- using tools and techniques authentic to the mid-1700's:
