Donna Shaffer, Artist

Artist Donna Shaffer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art from Bloomsburg University. She has shown her work at galleries and juried shows throughout Pennsylvania and New England.

Donna has “never felt that an artist could improve on nature” but has always tried to interpret, through her work, “how nature presents itself to me.” She considers herself an abstract natural artist and is inspired by nature’s endless variety of forms, textures, and rhythms.

It’s no surprise then that she works with mixed media, from wood and stone, to clay and inks, and says that she’s “always looking for new materials that will bring another dimension” to her work.

Most recently, one of Donna's pieces (pictured here) was accepted into the National September 11 Memorial & Museum Artists Registry. Acceptance on this registry means that her piece will most likely eventually be displayed on the grounds of the memorial, within the Freedom Tower, or in the museum currently being built at the former World Trade Center site.

Donna also studied painting under renowned artist, M. Masterfield, and has mentored successful artists herself over the years. Born in Bakersfield, CA, she now resides and works in Bloomsburg, PA.

Visit Port Penn Peddler to view more of Donna's work.
