Today's Teaser...

...for our Spring 2012 Re-Opening Event on Saturday, April 14th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.!

An article on NorthCentralPA.com about Port Penn Peddler and our upcoming Spring 2012 Re-Opening Event (http://www.northcentralpa.com/article/port-penn-peddler%E2%80%99s-spring-2012-re-opening-event):

Port Penn Peddler's Spring 2012 Re-Opening Event (In Arts, March 27, 2012)

Housed within a rather unassuming barn on the picturesque Susquehanna River is a quaint shoppe and art gallery called Port Penn Peddler. Their tagline is “Everyday eclectic…” implying a selection of unique, yet practical, pieces. And that is just what they deliver, from hand-made creations by area artists and artisans (jewelry, paintings, greeting cards, soaps, salves, etc.), gently-used clothing and books, Miche™ bags in a retail setting, NYC boutique bags, and much more.

The shoppe is a bit off the beaten path, at 585 Pepper Street in Muncy Creek Township, and just 20 miles from Lewisburg and Williamsport, PA. In addition to their wares, they host periodic events such as arts and crafts classes, Miche™ bag Trunk Shows, and wine and cheese tastings featuring wines from local vineyards.

Their upcoming Spring 2012 Re-Opening Event, on Saturday, April 14th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will feature demonstrations by locals John DeWald (scrimshander), Amy Garbes (jewelry-maker), Janice Hambridge (t’ai chi instructor), Larry Ney II (painter), and Danelle Wagner (photographer), music by Abygale Hecker, light refreshments provided by Tastefully Simple representative Janet Smith, and the chance to win a Door Prize. Please visit http://www.portpennpeddler.blogspot.com/, and “Like” Port Penn Peddler on Facebook, for further details on this event and for directions.

Also, by shopping at Port Penn Peddler you will be supporting not only your local economy, artists, and artisans, but several charities: many items are marked with a "DON" or "Donation" tag which means that 60% of the purchase price will be distributed evenly between the ALS Association, Humane Society, and Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy. Each of these charities has a special meaning for the shoppe owners, a daughter-and-mother-in-law team: Lara Schmitt’s father, and Noreen Craver’s step-son, both passed away from ALS (“Lou Gehrig’s Disease”), the two women believe in the importance of adopting versus purchasing pets, and Schmitt’s home and land is protected under the Conservancy.

And while visiting Port Penn Peddler, consider making an afternoon of it. After shopping, take some time to stroll through Muncy’s Heritage Park & Nature Trail which is adjacent to the property. The park currently features markers detailing some of the historical aspects of the area, the remains of the old canal’s lock house and well, a picturesque pond with a dock, a beautiful pavilion to relax under, and will soon also provide river access.

Port Penn Peddler’s April/May/June 2012 hours: Fridays 5 to 8 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Sundays to Thursdays (by appointment only). Phone/Fax: (570) 935-0195. E-mail: portpennpeddler@yahoo.com.
